The company also highlighted his experience in developing and scaling enterprises in Nigeria and other markets.

Onwuanibe holds an MSc in Architecture, Environmental Design and Planning.

He also holds an MSc in Construction Management.

His professional background spans sectors outside financial services.

The appointment therefore brings an entrepreneur with experience in property development, hospitality and investment into the leadership of a financial services company.

Sync Finance operates as a CBN-licensed finance company and provides lending, investment and financial advisory services to individuals and businesses in Nigeria.

Onwuanibe Sets Governance and Customer Service Priorities

Speaking after his appointment, Onwuanibe said he was honoured to take on the role.

He said his immediate focus would include strengthening corporate governance and deepening services to customers.

He also said he would work with the board, management and staff to support sustainable growth within regulatory requirements.

The new chairman’s comments point to governance and service delivery as key priorities under his tenure.

They also come as financial services companies face growing demand for accessible funding and tailored financial solutions.

For businesses, particularly smaller enterprises, access to appropriate financing remains an important consideration in managing operations and expansion.

Sync Finance Welcomes New Board Chairman

Ikenna Imo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sync Finance, welcomed Onwuanibe’s appointment.

Imo said the company expected his experience in building institutions and understanding of Nigeria’s business environment to contribute to its next stage of development.

The board and management subsequently congratulated him on his appointment.

What Sync Finance Does

Sync Finance describes itself as a financial services company focused on supporting individuals and businesses.

Its services include lending, investment and business advisory solutions.

The company says it works with entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses to address financing and business challenges.

Its headquarters is located in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

The company was established in 2025 and operates within Nigeria’s financial services sector.

The appointment of a new board chairman therefore comes relatively early in the company’s development.

CBN Clearance Precedes Appointment

The CBN’s no-objection was an important requirement before the appointment could take effect.

Sync Finance announced the appointment after receiving the regulatory clearance.

The board subsequently confirmed the appointment, with October 1 set as the effective date.

The process reflects the regulatory oversight applicable to CBN-licensed financial institutions.

It also places governance and regulatory compliance among the issues that will remain important as Onwuanibe begins his tenure.

A New Phase for Sync Finance

Onwuanibe’s appointment comes as Sync Finance seeks to expand its financial services offering.

The company has positioned itself around lending, investment and advisory services for individuals and businesses.

Its leadership has also emphasised innovation and sustainable growth.

With Onwuanibe now serving as board chairman, the company will have a new leadership figure with extensive experience in entrepreneurship, investment and business development.

How that experience translates into the company’s financial services operations will become clearer as Sync Finance executes its growth plans.

For now, the appointment marks a new chapter in the company’s board leadership following the CBN’s regulatory clearance.
