Wike Commissions Dunamis-Funded Pedestrian Bridge on Abuja Airport Road
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has commissioned a new pedestrian bridge built by Dunamis International Gospel Centre along Abuja Airport Road.
Wike inaugurated the facility on Friday, October 30, 2026. He commended the church for investing in public infrastructure and improving pedestrian safety in the capital.
The church constructed the bridge as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Its Senior Pastor, Dr Paul Enenche, and his wife, Dr Becky Enenche, led the project.
Wike described the intervention as an example of how faith-based organisations can support government efforts through practical community development projects.
He said leadership should reflect tangible contributions to society rather than promises or declarations of good intentions.
The minister also encouraged religious institutions, businesses and individuals to invest in projects that improve residents’ welfare.

Dunamis Funds Bridge Construction on Airport Road
The pedestrian bridge stands along the busy Airport Road corridor, near the church’s headquarters, the 100,000-capacity Glory Dome.
Pastor Enenche explained that the church embarked on the project to address pedestrian safety concerns and reduce accidents along the highway.
He said Dunamis had previously provided coaster buses to help pedestrians cross the road. However, the arrangement could not adequately address the challenge.
The church therefore decided to construct a permanent pedestrian bridge to provide a safer crossing point.
Enenche disclosed that the church obtained approval from the FCT Administration after several years of applications.
According to him, Dunamis first applied for approval in 2018. The administration eventually approved the project in February 2026 after the church renewed its request.
Construction began on June 22 and ended within four months and one week.
The church also installed green grills to discourage pedestrians from crossing the highway indiscriminately.
Enenche said Dunamis had requested permission to install transparent roofing, protective coverings and lighting on the bridge. These additions would improve the facility and encourage more pedestrians to use it.
Wike Promises FCT Government Support
During the commissioning, Wike assured Dunamis of the FCT Administration’s support for projects that promote public safety and community development.
He also approved the church’s request to roof the pedestrian bridge.
The minister indicated that the FCT Administration would consider contributing 50 per cent towards an associated project.
He commended Pastor Enenche and his wife for committing church resources to infrastructure that benefits the wider community.
Wike noted that government alone could not meet every infrastructure need. He urged other organisations to complement public investment through responsible community initiatives.
He also recalled the church’s application history, saying the request came to his attention in February 2026. The administration then granted approval within a month.
The minister urged residents to use the pedestrian bridge rather than risk their lives by crossing the expressway.
Church Says Bridge Will Improve Pedestrian Safety
Earlier, Pastor Enenche said the project reflected the church’s commitment to expressing Christian love through practical service.
He argued that religious responsibility should extend beyond spiritual activities to initiatives that improve human welfare.
Enenche said individuals and organisations should measure their impact by the problems they solve and the positive changes they create.
His wife, Becky Enenche, also described the bridge as a major relief for pedestrians along the Airport Road corridor.
She explained that the church had tried different arrangements before choosing permanent infrastructure.
The Managing Director of Dutum Construction Company Limited, Temitope Runshewe, said the company delivered the project within the agreed construction period.
He disclosed that the bridge marked Dutum Construction’s fifth pedestrian bridge project in the FCT. Other projects include bridges at Bannex, Sheraton, VIO and Setraco.
Kingibe, FRSC Officials Commend Project
The commissioning attracted several public officials, including Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the FCT in the National Assembly.
Kingibe praised Dunamis for translating its religious values into practical community service.
She described the pedestrian bridge as an intervention that could save lives by providing residents with a safer way to cross the highway.
The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Dr Sam Ode, also attended the ceremony. He described Enenche, who hails from Orokam in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, as a source of pride.
Meanwhile, the FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Taminu Iliyasu, said Airport Road had recorded a high number of pedestrian-related crashes.
He said the new bridge would provide a safer crossing point for residents and other road users.
The project highlights how faith-based organisations can complement government infrastructure efforts. However, its safety benefits will depend on regular maintenance and pedestrians’ willingness to use the facility.
Wike urged residents to make proper use of the bridge and avoid dangerous crossings along the busy road.
