LMI Selection Committee Holds Strategic Meeting at COSPAL Headquaters to Advance Legislative Capacity Building
The Selection Committee of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI) held a strategic meeting today at the COSPAL secretariat in Abuja. Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, Chairman of the LMI Selection Committee, led the session.
The meeting focused on improving coordination between institutions, reviewing key responsibilities, and updating strategies to help the committee build long-term legislative capacity in both national and state parliaments.

During the deliberations, the committee outlined actionable pathways to ensure that candidate selection processes remain strictly merit-driven, geographically representative, and tailored to the technical demands of modern lawmaking.
"To build resilient legislative institutions across Africa, we must move beyond ad-hoc training and invest in standardized, merit-based talent recruitment," stated Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, Chairman of the LMI Selection Panel. "By synchronizing the efforts of the LMI Selection Committee with COSPAL, we are ensuring that State Houses of Assembly are equipped with high-caliber policy professionals who can elevate legal drafting, oversight, and institutional governance."
